So you have applied to become an Ares member, now what?

Navigate to the ARRL Web Site and download the complete ARES manual.

Also download the ARES Standardized Training Plan Emergency Communicator Individual Task Workbook.

Examine the documentation and develop any questions that you may have.

Expect a welcome and orientation telephone call from your local ARES Emergency Coordinator.

Participate in the weekly nets, to observe and become acquainted with our exercises. Participate only when you are ready.

Participate in online seminars to improve your skills.

Register and begin taking recommended free online FEMA classes.

Attend the monthly meetings for more information and meet the people you may work and train with.

Learn how to program your handheld or mobile radio by hand or with a computer.

Follow the training plan in the Individual Task Workbook. Ask your Emergency Coordinator for guidance.
