Get Involved

Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL® or any other local or national organization, is eligible to apply for membership in ARES.  Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES.  The local ARES Emergency Coordinator can provide specifics.  Because ARES is an amateur radio program, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership.  The possession of emergency-powered equipment is desirable but is not a requirement for membership.  All that is needed is an FCC Amateur Radio license, a radio and a willingness to serve.

Volunteer Your Time

Our hobby is based on the desire to communicate and the use of technology to do so. Why not put that to good use by serving your community in times of need.

Man made or natural disasters of big enough scope can overwhelm our normal lines of communication. Land lines, cell systems and the internet may be gone or unreliable. It may take days or weeks to bring in the infrastructure necessary to restore communications.  This is where ARES can provide vital communications resources for the responders and the public.

Diamond Valley and surrounding areas may experience large earthquakes, wildfires and storms that could cause a call out. Get trained, maintain your equipment and be prepared to volunteer your skills.

ARES can support sporting events, such as cross country races. Community events like parades or special celebrations that require communications made possible by radio.
